A map \(\gamma:\Sigma \to M\) is stable iff \(\Sigma\) has only finitely many automorphisms compatible with \(\gamma\), i.e. each component of \(\Sigma\) collapsed to a point by \(\gamma\) should have at least three nodes plus marked points (“anchors”).
